HRG appoints new md at Argos

Former Best Buy exec takes helm

argosHome Retail Group (HRG) has appointed John Walden as managing director of Argos, the multichannel variety retailer.

He replaces Terry Duddy, who had been combining the role with his position as chief executive of HRG since the middle of last year after the departure of prior Argos md Sara Weller.

Mr Walden's career has seen him taken in senior roles at US businesses including Peapod, the ecommerce grocery retailer, department store Sears and Best Buy, the home technology operator.

HRG has also confirmed Polly Dickens as creative director at Habitat, the furniture and homeware retailer it picked up from administrators last year.

Ms Dickens, who formerly held a similar role at contemporary lifestyle retailer the Conran Shop, has occupied the position on an interim basis since November.
