Silentnight confirms factory closure

Production to be consolidated in Barnoldswick

rest-assuredBed group Silentnight has confirmed plans to close its Rest Assured factory in Batley following a three month staff consultation.

Around 200 jobs are likely to be shed as a result of the decision, though 100 will be created when production is shifted over to one of its other factories, in Barnoldswick.

Silentnight announced the proposal to consolidate production back in October. The company is now expected to complete the closure of the Batley site and vacate it by the end of April.

The company, which also operates a manufacturing plant in Cumbria making Sealy branded beds, was sold in a pre-pack deal to US private equity group HIG last year.
