Trade group FIRA expands services offer following capital investment

New comfort and flammability equipment bought

The testing arm of diversified furniture services group FIRA has extended the scope of services available to manufacturers after buying new equipment.

It has spent £10,000 on new pressure mapping machinery, which will help customers better understand how an end user's weight is distributed when sitting on a chair or lying on a bed.

FIRA International says it will be able to assess perceived comfort levels based on readings from the equipment.

Its investment follows an earlier spend on two new flow meters, equipment that helps it accurately carry out flammability testing.
