Heritage furniture and department store independent Randalls of Uxbridge is to close permanently after a clearance sale next month.

The retailer — still owned by the Randall family after retailing for nearly 125 years — is planning to shut its Vine Street store on 31st January.

Sir John Randall MP, who represents the Uxbridge and South Ruislip constituency, is the majority shareholder in the fourth generation business, which sells furniture, homewares and clothing.

He told local newspaper the Uxbridge Gazette that he and his family shareholders agreed that the business was no longer viable, and compared making the decision to close the shop to bereavement.

The business will honour all outstanding orders.
