Industry leaders including DFS and FIRA are to speak at an event designed to address the potential skills shortage in the British furniture industry.

Industry charity The Furniture Makers’ Company is to host a one-day conference at its central London HQ later this month to highlight the skills issue.

It has collaborated with the Furniture Industry Research Association (FIRA) on an industry-wide skills survey with the results to be revealed at the conference, which takes place 11am–4pm on Thursday 29th October.

Key speakers at the event include Stephen McPartland MP, FIRA’s Dr Pete Beele, and Andrew Stephenson, human resources director at furniture chain DFS.
