North West furniture and furnishings retailer Housing Units delivered strong growth in the year to end March with more to come in 2015–16.

The Greater Manchester based retailer’s latest accounts will show 6.7 per cent top line growth to £22.8m, with the firm saying that has escalated to a 13.9 per cent uplift in the first six months of its new financial year.

That would put full year sales in line to reach £25m.

Privately owned Housings Units—which trades from a large site at Wickentree Lane in Failsworth to the east of the city—saw EBITDA jump more than 41 per cent to £2.4m and pre-tax profits by 50 per cent to £1.8m.

The firm, which employs 300 people, will say in its accounts: “The directors believe that whilst trading conditions in the home furnishing sector as a whole remain highly competitive, the business is well placed to benefit from growth in consumer spending levels in the sector.

“Over the coming period they consider that the most effective way to ensure success is to continue their strategy of offering exceptional levels of customer service, selling the highest quality products at competitive prices and through recruiting and retaining the highest quality staff.”
