jyskCODanish value furniture chain JYSK has outlined an ambitious plan to increase its UK store footprint by the end of its 2015–16 financial year.


The retailer—currently trading from 14 stores in the UK—plans to another half a dozen shops by the end of August next year.


UK country manager Steve Stenhouse said: “We plan to increase the number of trading stores to 20 at the end of this financial year, whilst testing a new concept for JYSK UK: pop-up stores.”


The retailer delivered 7 per cent like-for-like sales in comparable stores in 2014–15, while online sales are thought to have more than doubled. Full year sales are expected to be well ahead of the £8.2m achieved in 2013–14 when UK accounts are filed.


JYSK predominantly trades from stores in the North of England, though its also has Midlands showrooms at Cannock, Swadlincote and Coventry, and a single southern store at Bournemouth.
