Luxury French furniture brand Roche Bobois enjoyed strong UK growth last year buoyed by an increase in underlying demand and the impact of its newest showroom.

Coxbury Ltd—Roche Bobois’ principal UK trading subsidiary and responsible for seven of its UK showrooms—registered sales up 12.9 per cent to £16.8m in the year to end December.

Sales order values rose 4.3 per cent, the company said, with its September 2013 launched Chelsea showroom along the Fulham Road also driving its higher sales total for 2014.

Profit before tax climbed 78 per cent to £1.5m, despite rising administrative costs associated with its newest showroom, with gross margin rising 350 basis points to 62.8 per cent, largely thanks to favourable exchange rates.

Coxbury runs Roche Bobois showrooms across London, including within the Harrods department store, while sister company Serenity Interiors operates its Manchester showroom and one of its London sites. Serenity has filed abbreviated accounts each year since 2009, when it had sales just over £1m.

Roche Bobois, based in Paris, has around 250 stores worldwide.
