Two new stores and increased online penetration helped furniture and housewares retailer IKEA achieve record sales in Germany in 2014–15.

ikeaGermanyThe Swedish chain generated turnover of €4.4bn in Germany, up 7.7 per cent on the previous year. Online sales increased by nearly 31 per cent to €189.6m.

Unlike the UK, IKEA Germany has had few issues expanding its store footprint. It opened new stores in Bremerhaven and Kaiserslautern during the year to bring the total in the country to 50.
