In a statement issued by Tempur, she said: “I have had a fantastic time over the past 24 years and loved working with our customers and staff. I have made some incredible relationships during this time and I will miss everyone.

“I am delighted that Tobin has been appointed as managing director and I can’t think of a better person, along with the superb management team, to take the company into a new era.”

Tobin James, formerly md at Faber Blinds UK, has worked closely with Ms Stefanov for five years. He said: “I am honoured to be appointed managing director of Tempur UK. I have enjoyed working with Jacqui immensely and she is one of the greats of the UK furniture industry. I am looking forward to working with our Tempur retailers and the UK team in planning our 2016 product launch and new marketing campaign.”

Mr James told the Furnishing Report that there were no other changes to the UK team.

Tempur UK is part of Tempur Sealy International, the global bedding conglomerate based in Kentucky in the US.  It is scheduled to update on its third quarter tomorrow (Thursday PM GMT), its first update since Scott Thompson was named its new CEO.
