Two-store variety retailer ESK—which shares owners in common with furniture wholesaler Wiseaction—grew sales and profits in the year to end February.

The Eastbourne and Hastings retailer registered sales of £8.8m, up 8 per cent on the previous year, with pre-tax profits up 44 per cent to £134,987.

ESK sells inexpensive goods across multiple home and garden product categories, including living, dining and bedroom cabinet furniture. The business is owned by Brian Reade and Bob Beevis, who also own St Leonards On Sea importer Wiseaction.

ESK bought less furniture from Wiseaction during 2014–15, dropping to £109,779 from £145,592 the prior year. Wiseaction filed small company accounts and is estimated to have a turnover in low seven-figures.
