Premium floorcoverings supplier Blenheim Carpets (London) has ceased trading and been placed into liquidation. The circumstances surrounding its closure were not immediately apparent.

Blenheim traded from two London showrooms, on Pimlico Road and in the Chelsea Harbour Design Centre.

The liquidator, Hayley Maddison of St Albans based insolvency practitioners & turnaround specialists Maidment Judd, was appointed 28th October.

It specialised in the ‘body and border’ carpets and was an established supplier to elite interior designers and decorators around the world. It last publicly disclosed sales figures in 2010, when its top line totalled £1.8m.

It is not known if that is representative of more recent trading, and no-one answered any of the numbers listed on its website, which remains live, when the Furnishing Report called yesterday.

A spokesman for Maidment Judd confirmed the business had ceased trading. They added that there had been no transfer or sale of assets to any new or existing associated company, though  a newco and a previously dormant company both exist with management in common.
