EUsofaManufacturingUpholstery shipments to the UK declined at the end of the third quarter with demand falling steepest from manufacturing partners in Europe.


Sofa imports* into Britain in September totalled £47.5m in September, according to HM Revenue & Customs, down 7.9 per cent on the same month in 2014.


Shipments from the Far East held firm, with goods in from China almost flat at £25.1m (2014: £25.4m).


It was European suppliers that felt the keenest drop, with Polish sofa imports down 15.9 per cent to £5.8m and Italian-made sofas falling 40.9 per cent to £5.2m year-on-year.
