Pan-European demand for mattresses and beds grew strongly in the final quarter as multi-fascia retailer Beter Bed managed to grow full year sales.

The 1,127 store chain said it grew FY sales by 1.8 per cent to €363.9m thanks largely to rising sales towards the end of the year.

Fourth quarter revenues were up 9.7 per cent to €99.6m despite a net 3.8 per cent decline in store numbers across the group during the three month period.

The multinational retailer said it enjoyed sales growth in all the markets it operates in save for Switzerland. Beter Bed runs chains such as Matratzen Concord and BeddenREUS, in countries including Germany, Austria, Spain, Belgium and the Netherlands.

FY operating almost doubled to €23m, it said.
