Garden and conservatory furniture supplier Alexander Rose bounced strongly back to profit as sales rocketed in the year to end August.

The Burgess Hill distributor — which sells timber and woven seating, dining and lounging furniture — grew sales by 31 per cent to £9.3m in 2013–14.

The revenue uplift helped the Sussex firm wipe out its £179k pre-tax deficit of the previous year to record positive earnings of £306k in the latest period.

It was the firm’s strongest performance in three years, since it made £508k on sales of £9.5m in 2010–11.
