Midlands furniture manufacturer Boss Design Group has acquired US upholstery manufacturer Jack Cartwright for an undisclosed sum.

The Dudley manufacturer — which operates at the sharp end of the office and corporate furniture market — says the deal for the High Point based producer concluded at the start of the month.

Jack Cartwright has been trading for 50 years, and makes bespoke upholstery for commercial interiors across the USA from its 80,000sqft North Carolina factory.

The acquisition, privately owned Boss Design Group said, would help help facilitate its own ambitions to expand into the US market.

Boss Design posted strong profits of £2.7m before tax on sales of £30m in 2013–14, though that did represent a slight softening in both top and bottom line performance on the prior year.
