Westex Carpets’ first numbers under the Victoria PLC group are as stellar as those that preceded them, with bumper sales and profits for the Yorkshire firm.

The Cleakheaton manufacturer — sold to Victoria for £16m in December 2013 — posted a 26.4 per cent rise in pre-tax profits to £4.6m in the year to 1st March.

Sales were up 6.8 per cent to a record £18.7m*, with much of the profits gain down to a huge 490 basis point leap in gross margin to 53.4 per cent.
