A three-fold rise in the Outdoor Living category helped John Lewis to growth in its Home directorate in the seven days to 21st February.

Home climbed 5.8 per cent to joint top the department store retailer’s performance charts along with Fashion, as total sales rose 3.5 per cent to £70.3m.

Fitted furniture — up 29 per cent — was also singled out in the retailer’s commentary of high-selling categories.

Its online channel was 16.7 per cent up, while 15 of its 40 stores open more than a year beat last year’s sales figure for the corresponding week.
