UK representation at the Paris furniture and home accents trade fair Maison et Objet increased in January with a 4 per cent year-on-year rise.

4,068 visitors from the UK crossed the channel, making Brits the third best represented nation in terms of visitors after — unsurprisingly — France with 38,141, and Italy with 5,216.

Just over half of the 78,200 total visitor numbers came from outside France, with 68 per cent representing retailers and 32 per cent specifiers such as architects and contract buyers.

The total figure was down 6 per cent — or around 5,000 — on the January 2014 edition.
