Carpetright founder Lord Harris’ investment company has continued selling shares in the floorcoverings chain in the weeks since his departure from the retailer’s board.

The peer stepped down as chairman of the company he founded nearly 30 years ago at the end of October after identifying Bob Ivell as his replacement.

A series of share sales by Harris Ventures, a company in which Lord Harris is a director and shareholder, are documented in city filings over the past two weeks, the latest coming on Monday and Tuesday of this week.

Harris Ventures has sold around 3.5m Carpetright shares since October, adding to the 3.1m at £4.30 per share sold by Lord Harris and Harris Ventures in September.

Harris Ventures now owns 2m shares in Carpetright — around 3 per cent of the business — with Lord Harris owning other shares in the retailer in a personal capacity.
