Four mattress sizes are available at present
Upholstery chain Sofology has begun selling mattresses for the first time, offering the products on its principal website under its long-owned Sleepology brand name.

The DFS-owned retailer is piloting the sale of four mattress sizes — spanning a single at £349 to a super king at £749 — with delivery available for a charge within a fortnight.

The products are rollup mattresses that are delivered in a box, according to a Sofology source who cannot be named because he is not authorised to comment publicly.

He said the products are not yet available to buy in Sofology stores, and they are being offered with a 45-day trial period in which they can be returned for a full refund.

The mattress construction is two layers of foam topped with a further gel layer.

There has been no obvious marketing promotion to date, other than that the product is available via a link at the bottom of the Sofology website. That takes the shopper to the Sofology.co.uk/sleepology URL where the retailer began building brand collateral for a potential launch last year, as The Furnishing Report first revealed last November (see related).

It registered the Sleepology brand back in 2015, though other IP, including the dedicated UK web domain, was registered by bedding company Comfy Quilts, who last year said it may collaborate with Sofology. Neither party was immediately available for comment yesterday.
