Spinks Springs, the West Yorkshire maker of micro-springs used in beds and other applications, has won The Furniture Makers' Company's third annual Export Award.

The Leeds manufacturer, part of the privately-owned Harrisons Spinks family of companies, beat Gosling and Ocee International, the two other businesses shortlisted for the prize.

"We feel that this award reflects our commitment to exporting quality components for bedding, furniture and other markets and the hard work of the Spinks Springs team," said Ian Owen, European sales manager at Spinks Springs.

The Judging Panel comprised Hayden Davies, Master of The Furniture Makers’ Company, BFM chairman Brian Ahern, Ben Burbidge, chairman of the Manufacturing Guild Mark, BFC chairman Jonathan Hindle, BCFA md Jeremy Stein and Jonny Westbrooke, CEO of The Furniture Makers’ Company.

The judges were impressed how, through the development of an international strategy and continuing to increase investment in the people within each new market, Spinks Springs’ export business has grown five-fold since 2015, with export sales in 2017–18 reaching £4.89 million and now accounting for 17 percent of its sales.
