Sales grew for Alexander & James
Alexander & James and Ashley Manor were the fastest growing business units for the DM Midlands group of sofa suppliers last year, outperforming its bigger division that focuses on national retailers.

Just-filed accounts for 2017 from the Dudley based business show Alexander & James grew sales by more than 16 percent* to £11.5 million in the year to end December, with Ashley Manor up 6.4 percent to £22.6 million.

AMX Design, its import unit supplying major sofa and furniture retailers, was close to flat against 2016 levels, at £41.1 million.

The comparisons with 2016 are all pro-rata figures compiled by The Furnishing Report, as the accounts for 2016 were for a truncated nine-month period following a shift in year-end to make it coterminous with its Thai parent company.

Profits for all three business units were as reported in our commentary last week (see related).
