Industry charity The Furniture Makers' Company has launched the entry process for its seventh annual Sustainability Award, which was last year won by bed maker Silentnight.


The prize considers all aspects of sustainable business practices, including waste and energy management, design process, product improvements, packaging, transportation, procurement, end of life management, client relationships, supplier management, employee engagement and corporate social responsibility.

Besides Silentnight, other past winners include Hypnos, Orangebox, Godfrey Syrett, Premiere Kitchens and Senator International.

The award is sponsored by waste management specialist HIPPO. Entry forms and details are at furnituremakers.org.uk/excellence. Entries close September 7.
