Heal's, celebrating 200 years on TCR this year, has a new national distribution centre
Design retailer Heal's has taken on a former logistics facility in the North that will become its national furniture distribution centre, serving customers across the UK.

The London headquartered retailer has taken over the former Home & Retail logistics facility at Adlington, Chorley, which had previously housed most of its inventory.

Home & Retail ceased trading in the UK earlier this year after it was unable to get insurance cover after a dearth of able drivers led to it incurring too many road accidents (see related).

“Following the sad collapse of Home & Retail, Heal’s decided to take on the premises in Adlington that housed most of its stock," CEO Hamish Mansbridge told The Furnishing Report in a reactive statement.

"A deal was put together very quickly and directly with the landlord at Adlington for Heal’s to secure the 70,000sqft space on a longer term letting.

"It will be used as the main Distribution Centre for all of Heal’s furniture ranges across the whole of the UK."

Mr Mansbridge added that the majority of the team that had previously worked for Home & Retail were being retained and are now working directly for the retailer. Heal's, which is celebrating 200 years of trading at Tottenham Court Road in 2018, trades from a further five stores, a clearance unit, and online.
