Home sales fell 6.7 percent at John Lewis last week as the wide-ranging category trended lower than year-earlier trade for the eleventh consecutive period.


The return of hot weather in the early part of the week — the seven days to August 11 — hindered efforts across the department store chain, with outdoor goods continuing to prove the exception.

Total sales dipped 1.8 percent to £74.3 million, thanks to slight improvements in other product categories outside home lines. Fashion sales advanced 0.7 percent, with electricals and home technology up 0.9 percent.
