Glasswells has completed another phase of its ongoing refurbishment project, opening its new smooths flooring studio at its Bury St Edmunds store.

The launch of the new-look area coincides with the promotion of Andrew Boreham, a member of the Glasswells flooring team since 2014, to the role of flooring department manager and buyer.

Glasswells is investing £1 million improving its Bury St Edmunds head office superstore, one of four in the retailer's estate across the East of England.

MD Paul Glasswell said: "This ambitious refurbishment, the most comprehensive in Glasswells’ history, has all been planned with the customer in mind. We have always strived to offer our customers the latest and most stylish furnishing options and it is essential that our environment provides visitors with the very best shopping experience."

Its new smooths department features luxury vinyl tiles, laminate and engineered wood flooring designs, with brands including Amtico and Karndean among those available. The new displays include interactive screens and extra-large samples of the products, which aim to help people visualise what their new floor is going to look like.

Glasswells' Bury St Edmunds store revamp has so far involved an extension and complete refit of the in-store Place to Eat restaurant and a full refurbishment of its furniture and bedroom display areas. The next phase of the project is due to start soon, with the carpet and rug departments getting a complete overhaul.
