ScS has made two key senior boardroom hires
ScS has strengthened its senior management team, hiring a former Fabb Sofas and DFS executive as HR director and a commercial director following Kevin Royal's retirement.

Mark Sherburn, previously Fabb HR director and before that DFS director of HR operations, takes the HR brief at the UK's second largest upholstery retailer, reporting into corporate services director Marie Liston.

"Mark will be focusing on our people recruitment, retention, development and engagement with the aim of making ScS an employer of choice and an even better place to work," the retailer said in response to a query from The Furnishing Report.

"Marie will continue to have overall responsibility for HR, however since being appointed corporate service director in 2016 also has responsibility for areas such as customer service, health and safety and compliance.

"As part of our mission of delivering an outstanding customer experience, Marie will be spending more time drilling into the customer experience at every stage of the customer journey and in maintaining and improving upon our 5-star Trustpilot rating."

ScS also confirmed John Pattison's appointment to the new position of commercial director, adding that "this new role and appointment follows Kevin Royal’s retirement earlier this year."

Mr Royal, who was md, announced his departure from ScS last year after a 35-year career with the chain.

The retailer said Mr Pattison "joins us with a wealth of consumer retail and value-driven retail experience," understood to have included senior roles in the convenience food and drink sector with companies including Spar and Wine Rack/Bargain Booze.
