Belgian carpet producer Lano has agreed to buy the broadloom carpet business of compatriot and rival manufacturer Bajong.

The deal allows McThree Group — Bajong’s owner for the past 14 years — to follow its longstanding intention to concentrate solely on its woven rugs business.

Harelbeke based Lano group sells its residential and commercial carpets to a number of markets including the UK and has sales of around €85m.

It said the acquisition was effective immediately and included Bajong’s team, products inventory and brand.

Customers have been told to expect no changes and business as usual in the short term. Bajong production and staff will move to Lano’s site over the next few months.
