Nick Garratt is to leave his post as managing director at furniture maker Ercol, with a recruitment process underway to find a successor.

Mr Garratt is leaving by mutual consent, the company said in a press release this afternoon (May 24), saying that after such a long spell with the business he is now "looking for a new challenge."

He joined Ercol in 2005 as operations director, progressing to sales director before taking the md brief in 2013.

In prepared remarks, Mr Garratt said: "The integrity and values of this family business have kept me here for much longer than I originally planned.

"I have really enjoyed my time here working with some great people and to all those who have given me such wonderful support I would like to offer my personal thanks."

Chairman Edward Tadros said: "Nick gave freely of his energies and expertise to help the company succeed and grow consistently.

"I am clearly very sorry to see Nick leave our company and I am looking for a successor, but I know that Nick will continue to do his very best for Ercol over the next months."
